Who am I?
Hello, I am Calesta, an illustrator from Hong Kong based in London. My interest is to present the idea "sidekicks" in daily lives, investigating in the theme "banality" through storytelling, weaving humorous and narratives together by observation and research.
In my practice, I present ideas using different mediums as canvas mainly paper, ceramics and organising workshops. I use both traditional and digital ways to produce illustrations.Line quality and facial expressions are always the top priority in my work because I believe they are the key to give illustrations a soul and a tangible connection bridging me and audiences, ultimately leaving a smile on people's faces.
I am going to find the best fine liner in the world.
